This elegant Regency Country House Hotel set in it's own landscaped gardens 0.25 mile from lake Windermere and a short walk from the centre of Ambleside, makes an ideal base for walking or sightseeing.
Renowned for the comfortable, relaxed, friendly atmosphere and efficient yet unobtrusive service, the hotel has been owned by the Nixon family for over 40 years, and is one of only 6 hotels to have been featured in the Good Hotel Guide since it began. Residents have free use of a nearby leisure centre and fishing permits.

Rothay Manor has 16 individually appointed bedrooms, and 3 suites, 2 of which are in the grounds giving more space and privacy. Families are welcome with rooms and suites available, together with cots, high chairs, baby-listening and an excellent high tea menu. Two bedrooms have been adapted for use by disabled guests earning the hotel a Level 2 Mobility grading from the National Accessible Scheme.

The excellent cuisine is served with flair and imagination to the highest of standards, using local produce wherever possible, complemented by a comprehensive wine list. The well-known Afternoon Tea has been rated as 'One of the 50 Best Places for Afternoon Tea in the World' by the Guardian Newspaper.
