Berkeley Castle, a hidden gem in the Cotswolds

Berkeley Castle, completed in 1153 at the command of Henry II, still remains the home of the Berkeley family. The Castle was the scene of the brutal murder of Edward II in 1327 and was besieged by Cromwell’s troops in 1645.
Twenty-four generations of Berkeley’s have transformed a Norman fortress into a stately home full of treasures; such as magnificent collections of furniture, rare paintings and tapestries.
The Castle is surrounded by terraced gardens, Elizabeth I’s bowling green and a Tropical Butterfly House.
The Edward Jenner Museum, located next door, now offers a joint ticket for both attractions, representing great value for money.
